Access & Basics
Where do I manage my game server?
You manage your game server in the Game Panel (Pterodactyl). This is where you start/stop the server, view the console, upload files, set schedules, and create backups.
What’s the difference between the customer area and the game panel?
- Customer Area: Billing, invoices, upgrades, cancellations, service status
- Game Panel (Pterodactyl): Actual server management (console, files, settings)
Why can’t I see some settings?
Some settings are hidden to prevent breaking servers accidentally. If you need access to a specific option, contact support and tell us what you’re trying to do (and the game you’re running).
Console & Startup
How do I start/stop/restart the server?
- Open your server in the Game Panel
- Go to Console
- Use Start, Stop, or Restart
Tip: If the server is stuck stopping, wait ~60 seconds then try again.
My server won’t start — what should I check first?
- Open Console and scroll to the first red error line
- Check you selected the right server type/version (if applicable)
- Check disk space and memory usage
- Undo the last change (mod/plugin/config) and try again
Where do I change startup settings / variables?
Open your server and go to Startup. You’ll see available variables (and sometimes a server “egg” selection depending on the game).
Important: Changing startup values can stop the server from booting — take a backup first if you’re unsure.
Files & SFTP
How do I upload files (mods/plugins/configs)?
You can upload files using:
- File Manager: Quick uploads (small files)
- SFTP: Best for lots of files / big modpacks
Where do I find my SFTP details?
- Open your server in the panel
- Go to Settings (or Server Settings)
- Look for the SFTP section (host, port, username)
Tip: Your SFTP password is your panel password (unless we’ve configured it differently).
Backups
How do I create a backup?
- Open your server in the panel
- Go to Backups
- Click Create Backup
For best results, stop the server first (or backup during quiet hours).
How do I restore a backup?
- Stop the server
- Go to Backups
- Select the backup and choose Restore
- Start the server and test
Schedules
What are schedules used for?
Schedules let you automate tasks like:
- Daily restarts
- Automatic backups
- Running commands (e.g., announcements, saves)
My schedule didn’t run — what should I check?
- Is the schedule enabled?
- Is the task time set in the correct timezone?
- Does the task require the server to be online?
- Check the panel for any task/run logs (if available)
IP, Ports & Connection
Where do I find my server IP and port?
Open your server in the panel. Your IP:PORT is shown on the server’s main page (often near the top).
I can’t connect — what’s the quickest checklist?
- Confirm the server is running in the panel
- Double-check the IP:PORT
- Confirm you’re using the correct game version/modpack
- Try from a different network (mobile hotspot) to rule out local issues
